Who we are
We are Sachi and Ichi, a married couple living in Nagoya. I’m Sachi. I was born and raised in Japan, and I write the articles on this site. Ichi keeps the receipts, builds the price tables and runs the site.
Most English guides to Japan are written by people passing through. We live here, so we write about what we actually buy, eat, book and skip, and we show you what it cost us.
How we check prices
- We only write about places we went to and things we bought. If we have not been, it is not on this site.
- Every price comes from something we can show you: a receipt, a booking confirmation, a price tag or a menu we photographed. When we use a shop’s own published price, the article says so.
- Prices include tax, because that is what you pay at the till. Hotel prices are the total from our booking confirmation.
- Each article says when we paid. Prices move. If one has changed, tell us and we will fix it.
How this site makes money
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you book or buy through one, we may earn a small commission, and you pay the same price. Links go on things we used ourselves. The one exception is marked as such inside the article.
We do not accept payment for reviews and we do not publish sponsored posts.
